Meet The Parents ~ Morticia and Gomez (aka Meerkat)
About Morticia: Morticia is a standard munchkin. She is the only female in the house and truly is the "queen". She is a long hair grey with white mitts and gold eyes.

About Gomez aka Meerkat: Gomez is a non-standard munchkin cat. He is seal pointed with pale blue eyes, medium length coat and the stud of the house and also the youngest. He is very affectionate and has quite possibly the loudest purr in the house. He is also the most rambunctious, but then again, he is in his teenage cat years. His favorite thing to do is cuddle up with Oscar, grandpa cat, and sleep next to him.

How Our Munchkin Family Started: OSCAR: It all started about 1995, my sister worked in Oak Park, Il. at a deli. She went outside the back of the deli and saw this poor little hungry stray cat hiding under the dumpster. She decided to try to bait him out by offering him food as he was apparently hungry. Well, he took the food, but really, she took HIS bait. He knew a kind human when he saw one apparently. He hung around awaiting more food from her. She called our mom and asked her to take him to the vet as he had no collar or tags and appeared to clearly be a stray. Upon his arrival at the vet, it was determined he was stray, loaded with fleas, unfixed, and feral. No one had claimed him. My sister then decided, she would take him and adopt him. Little did we know he was a munchkin that had seemed to have been born in the wild. Upon his arrival at his new humans home, he hid for at least the first six months in the basement of the house. Never was he seen eating nor using the litter box. It took a very long time for him to trust humans. We had to break him in slowly by just touching his head. If you'd tried to pet the rest of him, he would attack by biting and hissing. He did finally start to trust his humans a little at a time by even occasionally letting someone pick him up, however after the first growl, we put him down. His acclimation to humans was a long and slow process, but now nearly 13 years later, he is happily domesticated and very well loved. He really loves his humans and has really come to trust and depend on them. He was also the inspiration for our love of munchkin cats and expanding our family. Did I mention his name? Oscar. Named after Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street, since he was found by the dumpster. Oscar is a primarily black tabby, with very unique distinctive markings and the greenest eyes you've ever seen. He is now the "grandpa" of the family. As a result of our wonderful Oscar we have grown our family now to 4 munchkins.

Our Second Munchkin: DUSTY: In September of 2006 my husband and I purchased our second munchkin cat from the most wonderful breeder. His name is Dusty, and appropriately so named, as he is a rughugger munchkin. He is white with blue points and mitts. He talks very little, but when he does, you know why - he needs more water, or food, when you are waking up in the morning, he walks the length of your body and sits on top of you and paws at you waiting for your eyes to open. He plays fetch and he likes to play chase with his humans. He's very affectionate! He is nearly always right by my side. He also plays well with others. He is fixed, but in the household heirarchy, he is the older guiding brother with the younger cats in the house.

Our Family and Home: Our family consists of myself, my husband, a 17 year old son, one Sharpei dog, two big fish tanks and a Green African Parrot. Our cats are well acclimated to all the varieties of life a household could offer. Our cats do not hide, but rather crave attention and affection from their human counterparts. They are very well socialized. No one comes into our house unnoticed. They LOVE people!

Our queen is fed nothing but the best to ensure healthy kittens, as are our kittens fed nothing but the best. In the early part of their lives, we recommend Royal Canin.
